Name: Kailani Pone Hoofspen
Age: 21
Type: Pegasus
Symbol: Black fish on one side, black seabird on the other.
Colors: Sea-green body with sky-blue mane and tail.
Powers (if any): Kail has the power to heal both herself and others of nearly every wound imaginable. By her own power the only wound she cannot heal is a cut throat (if only because it bleeds too fast to heal). With the power of the Rainbow's green stripe, Kail can heal any wound, no matter the severity. She also gives off alot of heat under normal circumstances, kinda like a towel just out of the dryer.
Despite being able to heal many wounds for long periods of time, it does tax her, and the longer it takes to heal someone, or the more wounds she heals, the weaker she feels and the longer she has to rest afterwards. This is the case even when the Rainbow has been helping her.
Description/temperment (how they act, nice, shy, ect): Kail has got the maturity of a pony twice her age most of the time. Still, while she's had more than her fair share of "life" experiances, they mostly range into the extremes, leaving her with a void where normal life experiances should be. She tends to think she can handle every problem that comes her way herself, and isn't used to having to depend on others for help. When she can't deal with a problem herself, she tends to get into a depressed funk.
Oh, and mentioning her age immediately makes her self-concious, because she looks so much younger than she really is.
Birthplace (or place of the majority of residence): Born in Dream Valley, lives in Ponyville currently.
History: Kail started her long, interesting history while still in the womb; her mother was shot by a poisoned arrow, and her uncle saved their lives by giving up his shard of the Healing Stone for them. As the magic seeped through the wound and into her system, most of the healing energy was transfered to the child inside, who retained it after her birth.
As Kail grew, she suffered from all the things children suffer from: bumps and bruises, scrapped knees and chicken pox. She got over all her ailments at an alarmingly quick pace, however, and by the time she was four was healing others as well. Which was a good thing, because her adoptive sister was about to get herself into a world of trouble.
Without going into Karma's backstory (I'll leave that for her history section) I'll just say that she got herself nearly killed. As the excited baby Kail squirmed out of her mothers arms and ran instead to jump on her sister (not understanding what was happening), Karma began healing. All Kail remembers from it was getting extra cookies that night.
Mostly, the 20 year peace in Dream Valley meant that there wasn't much for Kail to heal, and she went through most of her young life not really concious of her powers. The only tell-tale sign that something strange was going on began when she stopped aging at the tender age of 15. In the time it has taken her to reach her 21st birthday, she's aged about a year, and those who first meet her assume she is no older than sixteen.
Despite the fact that Kail still hadn't realize the extent of her power by the age of 18, the Rainbow of Light did, and when things started going against its wishes in Course (namely the Dark Rainbow came to help Glasya), it felt the need to do something drastic. Breaking out of the locket, it found Kail and her family (a bunch of healers the females are), and took them across the ocean to Course, where Bella, Kail's mother, began fighting, and Karma, her adopted sister, immediately began helping heal the wounded.
Kail, although having been taught how to fight by her mother and uncle, was overwhelmed by the violence and the site of the Dark Rainbow. She'd never seen anything so inherantly evil, and the hordes of dark ponies at Glasya's command had her shocked into immobility until Princess Celeste screamed and started cantering back through the town and into the castle.
Kail watched as the Dark Rainbow took off after the Princess before making up her mind to do the same. Taking off into the air, she followed them on wings into the halls of the palace and up to Celeste's room, where the Rainbow of Light was trying to protect the Princess the best it could. The filly was waving an oversized sword at the Dark Rainbow as Kail ran into the room, catching its attention. Wanting to rid itself of this harmless-looking filly so it could get down to the buisness at hand, the Dark Rainbow turned, hitting Kail full forced in the chest, driving as much of its energy into her as it could. She stubled back and fell to the ground, unconcious, but the diversion had taken the Dark Rainbow's attention from the Princess and the Rainbow of Light long enough for them to attack. With the Rainbow of Light wrapping itself around the sword, Celeste was able to cut the Dark Rainbow into its seperate stripes, and it howled as it flew away in ribbons of black, putting as much distance between itself and Course as possible before finally falling back to the ground in the Northern Continent.
But despite the Dark Rainbow's defeat, Kail was dying. Even a healer of her magnitude could not take on the Dark Rainbow on their own, and the dark energy coursing through her system was killing her, slowly and painfully. The Rainbow flew her down to her mother and sister, in a vain effort to have them help, but Kail was already clinically dead. Without knowing what else could be done, her sister grabbed hold of what thin thread remained of her living aura and kept it from further retracting as the Rainbow of Light swept the three of them to the ocean. Delphinbella called the family of dolphins that were Kail's grandparents, and using the Dolphin's Song, the pod was able to restore Kail to life. There is nothing stronger than the healing power of the dolphins.
As she recovered at home, her parents worry and over-protection started to really get on her nerves, and when her best friend Velocity announced her plan to move to Ponyville and start classes at UPV, Kail was all for it. It took a bit of convincing her parents, but Kail was soon on her way to the new big city with her best friend, and whatever adventures awaited her there.
Game History:
She got a job right away, as the assisstant to Ms. Sunny Daze, moviestar diva, after curing her of a hangover. Ms. D put her and Velocity up in the extravagant castle immediately, and the two of them started off their new lives in relative peace. But the stripes of the Dark Rainbow had all landed near Ponyville, and were congregating at the same time that Kail was moving to the new city. Each assuming the other dead, it didn't register at first for either side who they were in the same town with. Kail would feel queasy whenever one of the monochrome dark ponies were around, and the stripes could not believe that the pegasus was still alive.
They managed to trap the peg, along with most of the other residents of the castle, in a large cage in the throne room. Talking back to the Rainbow with false bravado had only worsened the situation, and before Kail could stop her, Tawny, the mustard yellow stripe of the Dark Rainbow, cut her throat. Kail had just enough time to scream for the Rainbow of Light's help before her trachea was severed and she could no longer breathe.
As she lay in a puddle of her own blood, gasping for air that could not make it to her lungs, Kail was sure that this time she would die for good. But the Rainbow had heard her call, and had once again broke from its golden prison, spliting into each of its own stripes and taking over seven ponies - the Champions of the Rainbow. As the green stripe entered Kail's body it healed her broken flesh and accepted her promise to fight for it always.
During the battle that followed, nothing could harm Kailani, strong with the Rainbow's healing stripe as she was. Broken bones mended in minutes, cuts and stabs were gone in the blink of an eye, and it was only those who could harm her mind that had any power over her at all. As the castle came crashing down around them, the Champions and the Dark Stripes congregated at Razz's Curiosity Shop for the final pitch. As Kail tried desperately to keep the seventh stripe alive, the others tried desperately to figure out how to trap the rest of the evil stripes. Eventually a pony popsicle was formed out of the evil indigo stripe, with all the other evil stripes trapped inside. The Rainbow of Light took the popsicle away, and Kail, exhausted by her efforts, passed out in Razzaroo's bed.
The next morning, as they tried to reconcile themselves with the fact that the Rainbow was gone, it returned, instilling in them a small part of their stripe again, and leaving Kail with the symbol of the healing heart on her chest. With the castle ruined and Velocity returning to Dream Valley, Kail found herself homeless and friendless. As she wondered where she could sleep at night, Razz suggested buying the old Nursery across from his shop and making it into a homeless shelter of sorts, for all the currently homeless ponies (and there were many after the War of the Rainbows). And so, Kail became Co-owner and runner of the Ponyville Nursery and Homeless Shelter, affectionately refered to as simply the Nursery.
As Ponyville healed, and folks eventually rebuilt their homes and lives, the Nursery was left with only the orphaned children, and Kail became a surrogate mother to them all. With Razz's help, she's been able to keep it running since the War, and in the meantime developed a strong friendship both with Razzaroo, and with Strawberry Swirl, another mare who moved in to help with running the Nursery.
As her feelings for Razz grew, Kail tried to ignore them, instead focusing on the foals and raising enough money to keep the bills paid. As it seemed Razz was also effectively ignoring her feelings towards him, when Swirl's friend Triple Treat showed up, complete with quite a fair share of cash to help pay the bills, and Kail immediately took to him (because of his personality, not the cash...although it helped ease the stress she'd been feeling about bills). But when the Gods attacked Ponyville, and Kail accidentally shot Razzaroo with one of her poisoned arrows during the battle, her entire perspective changed. Thinking Razz to be dead, Kail let out all of her anger onto the Gods, and eventually helped turned the tide against them. But before she could convince anyone that the gods were false, she saw a stripe of the Dark Rainbow - one of the ponies she had fought against the year before, and thinking the Rainbow had somehow gotten loose, Kail gave up. It was only Razz's voice in her head, when she realized he was alive, that she finally found the strength to fight Glasye.
Seeing to the rest of his wounds after the battle, Kail and Razzaroo made promises to each other that they would never leave the other's side, no matter the pain it caused. And things began to get back to normal; the winter as cold and silent as ever, and spring returning on time with only a few sniffles here and there. As Kail packed for a week trip to see her parents in Dream Valley, her sister Karma came to take care of the children. Feeling they would be in safe enough hoofs for the week, Kail started her relaxing vaccation, only to wake two days later to the news that the Rainbow had been stolen. She called Razz, who contacted the rest of the Champions while she went to find a boat to take them after the pirates who stole the locket. The only ones willing to help were another pirate ship, and so Kail, and the Champions, have found themselves stuck on a slow moving ship, admist a crew of none-too-nice pirates, arguining with each other after a very stupid stunt that she pulled to try to find out where the locket was being taken.
